Philly Steak Sandwich


My husband loves this steak sandwich. I hope you'll enjoy it too!

2 tablespoons olive oil
1 large onion, sliced
1 green pepper, sliced
4 button mushrooms, sliced
1 tablespoon minced garlic
1 teaspoon sea salt
1 teaspoon coarse ground pepper
1 1/2 pounds lean round steak, sliced into thin strips
1 cup mozzarella cheese, grated
1 cup provolone cheese, grated
4 whole wheat hoagie rolls, split and toasted

In large frying pan, saute onion, pepper, and mushrooms in olive oil until tender and onions have caramelized. Season with salt and pepper. Remove from pan and keep warm. Cook steak strips in hot skillet until brown. Sprinkle with more sea salt and pepper. Cover with cheese and allow to melt. To make sandwiches, pile spoonfuls of cheesy meat on toasted rolls, then top with generous amounts of onion mixture. Makes 4-6 sandwiches.
